Connecting Local Impact
to a Sustainable Revenue Strategy
Unatti Foundation partnered with Sharity to expand its revenue strategy beyond grant-focused fundraising. The work focused on major gifts development, donor segmentation, impact reporting, and aligning program outcomes with global frameworks to support sustainable growth.
The Outcome
Within the first year, Unatti doubled its revenue. This supported program expansion, new initiatives in climate education and entrepreneurship, and the publication of the organizationβs first multi-year impact report.
Meet the Organization
Unatti Foundation supports girls in Nepal through housing, education, and community-based programming.
Its work includes a residential group home, the Girlsβ Health Empowerment Education Program, and locally led program design and implementation. The organization operates through a decentralized model, with program leadership based in Nepal and fundraising support in the United States.
Unattiβs programs were producing meaningful outcomes. The next opportunity was to align those outcomes with a revenue strategy that could support continued growth.
Setting the Stage
Strong Outcomes Ready for Broader Investment
Unatti had a clear mission, trusted local leadership, and strong program results.
Revenue growth, however, had plateaued. Fundraising relied heavily on grants, donor engagement was not yet consistently segmented, and impact was not always framed in ways that helped broader audiences understand the scale and significance of the work.
Several priorities shaped the engagement:
- Expanding revenue beyond grant-focused fundraising
- Building a stronger major gifts strategy
- Segmenting donors for more intentional engagement
- Framing local program outcomes for institutional and major donors
- Strengthening measurement and reporting systems
The question was how to connect Unattiβs demonstrated impact to a funding model capable of supporting its next stage of growth.
Revenue Strategy Development
Moving From Transactions to Relationships
Sharity supported a shift from network fundraising toward a broader revenue model.
The strategy focused on:
- Major gifts and long-term donor relationships
- Donor segmentation to support targeted engagement
- Alignment between fundraising strategy and organizational growth goals
- Clearer communication of what sustained investment would make possible
This helped Unatti move beyond one-time funding opportunities and toward a more structured donor development approach.
The goal was to build relationships around shared outcomes, not simply funding needs.
Impact & SDG Alignment
Connecting Local Outcomes to Global Frameworks
Sharity helped align Unattiβs program outcomes with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The work mapped existing programs to goals related to:
- Poverty reduction
- Education
- Health
- Gender equality
- Economic opportunity
This framing helped connect Unattiβs local work in Nepal to global conversations funders already understood.
It also gave the organization clearer language for communicating how deeply local programming can contribute to broader social change.
Communications & Measurement
Creating Consistency Across Fundraising Conversations
Sharity developed materials to support fundraising, reporting, and donor engagement.
This included:
- A formal pitch deck
- Multi-year impact reporting
- Safeguarding documentation
- Clearer program and outcome language
- Donor-facing materials aligned with growth priorities
These tools created consistency in how Unatti presented its work, whether speaking with major donors, institutional funders, or partners.
The materials also helped translate program strength into donor confidence.
Moving From Activity Reporting to Outcome Visibility
Sharity strengthened measurement systems to support clearer outcome tracking.
The work included:
- Implementation of monitoring and evaluation metrics
- A shift from activity-based reporting to outcome-based measurement
- Stronger tracking of education, health, and community outcomes
- Data structures to support impact reporting and donor communication
This helped Unatti show not only what programs were delivered, but what changed because of them.
Real-World Outcomes
Revenue Growth Connected to Program Expansion
The engagement helped Unatti strengthen its funding model while expanding its program impact.
Key outcomes included:
- Revenue doubled within the first year of engagement
- Expansion of programs, including climate education and entrepreneurship initiatives
- Publication of the organizationβs first multi-year impact report
- 100% transition to upper secondary school among participants tracked
- 100% progression to college or trade school among participants tracked
- Community impact through GHEEP, including education for more than 2,200 girls and 2,000 boys
- Policy changes across 42 schools
These outcomes reflected both financial growth and deeper program visibility.

What We Learned
Sustainable revenue growth depends on how clearly impact is understood.
For Unatti, the work was already meaningful and locally grounded. The opportunity was to frame that impact in ways that major donors and institutional partners could recognize, evaluate, and support.
When local outcomes are connected to broader frameworks and structured donor engagement, organizations can expand both funding and reach without losing the integrity of the work.
