Last week: NURSING-HOME HEARTBREAK: Gov. DeSantis choked up as families described the agony of being unable to visit their sick and dying loved ones at assisted living facilities during COVID-19. I know that pain — having dropped off my elderly parent alone at the ER. Compounding the pain is the disinformation that those who lost loved ones to COVID-19 “didn’t count.” In Central Florida, 40% of COVID deaths are from nursing homes. Shame on anyone who would downplay the human toll of this pandemic to score political points. Be sure to protect your loved ones by staying safe this holiday weekend.
