Last week: MAST SHOULD GO: In yet another gross example of the “new normal” in our politics, South Florida voters learned this week of their Congressman Brian Mast’s history of “joking” about raping 15-year-old girls. Not only does Congressman Mast’s “jokes” about child rape and “murdering” women disqualify him for office, but so does his vote against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. One hundred years ago, the 19th Amendment was ratified. The best tribute we can make to all the trailblazing women who came before is to vote in record numbers for change this fall. The stakes could not be higher.
