Nina Streich

Bio

Nina Streich has an extensive background in film, television, and media, and politics. She held senior management positions in the Nantucket Film Festival and the Newport International Film Festival before creating the Global Peace Film Festival in 2003. Nina began her career as a film editor, producing trailers for major studio and independent features, including The Elephant Man, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Scandal, and has produced several documentaries. She is currently working on a documentary about New York City’s first black Mayor, David N. Dinkins, and another about President Obama’s mother.

In politics, she served as the New York Finance Director for the Dukakis Presidential Campaign and the Democratic National Committee in 1987 and 1988. Nina coordinated the Inauguration of NYC Mayor David N. Dinkins in 1990 and was then appointed Deputy Film Commissioner for the NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. After leaving the Mayor’s Office, she was Deputy Executive Director of the NYC Host Committee for the 1994 Grammy Awards. As an events producer, she has organized film premiers, music festivals, conferences, parades and street fairs.
