Central Florida 100: Silver lining: WILDLIFE THRIVES: & Mother’s Lesson: CARE FOR EVERYONE

Carol Wick, CEO, Sharity
Silver lining: WILDLIFE THRIVES: This week, I was supposed to be on safari in South Africa after spending a week with a client in the Congo. Instead, I watched in awe as cameras on the backs of jeeps recorded record numbers of animals, including packs of wild dogs and herds of antelope, out in the open. The same thing is happening across the globe as wild animals come out of hiding to roam the streets in cities under lockdown. At a time where everything seems to be falling apart, as a lover of animals, it’s comforting to know there’s at least some silver lining for wildlife.
Mother’s lesson: CARE FOR EVERYONE: My mother grew up a “dirt” farmer. It was a tough beginning but it filled her life with purpose. Whenever anyone needed help, she’d be there with a bit of food, a place to sleep, or just a shoulder to cry on. It didn’t matter if you were a friend, neighbor, or complete stranger. She taught me the value of living life-loving people and caring for them, even if you don’t know them. I also learned from her what it means to make a difference in someone’s life. For that, I am forever grateful.
